GOP Lawmaker Hits Tucker Carlson With Wicked Label For Russian Grocery Store Love

U.S. Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) slammed Tucker Carlson over footage that showed the conservative pundit praising a Russian grocery store experience during a widely condemned trip he took to Moscow.

Ah yes, Russia is so much better than the U.S. with all those cheap groceries and lavish subway stations! Tillis wrote  on Thursday in response to clips that Carlson shared from his trip.

The Soviets had a term for people like Tucker: useful idiots.

The former Fox News host, who has also faced criticism for his softball questions in a recent interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin , applauded a shopping cart coin-lock system similar to the kind seen in U.S. stores and elsewhere toward the start of one clip.

Carlson later gushed about a shopping cart escalator also used in U.S. stores and remarked on a loaf of bread. He then praised the total price of his groceries at checkout, estimating that the items would cost $400 in the U.S. but saying that the Russian store only charged $104 for them.

Coming to a Russian grocery store, the heart of evil, and seeing what things cost and how they live, it will radicalize you against our leaders, Carlson declared. Thats how I feel, anyway radicalized. Were not making any of this up, by the way, at all.

Other critics also slammed Carlsons Russian grocery store admiration, including  U.S. Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-Fla.).
