Oscars 2023: The Complete Winners List

Jimmy Kimmel helmed the 95th annual Academy Awards show on Sunday, where people were still talking about one thing: "the slap."
|

Audiences and attendees faced an onslaught of slap jokes on Sunday night, as “unflappable and unslappable” comedian Jimmy Kimmel hosted the 95th annual Academy Awards.

Kimmel revealed ahead of the Oscars , which were held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, that he was going to mention the infamous 2022 incident  between Will Smith and Chris Rock.

He followed through on his promise , joking in the opening: “If anyone in this theater commits an act of violence at any point during the show, you will be awarded the Oscar for Best Actor and permitted to give a 19-minute-long speech.”

As far as winners went on Sunday, “Everything Everywhere All At Once” dominated the awards show, taking home wins in seven of the 11 categories it was nominated in, including Best Picture and Best Director. In a historic moment, the film’s star Michelle Yeoh became the first Asian woman to win Best Actress.

“For all the little boys and girls who look like me watching tonight, this is a beacon of hope and possibilities,” Yeoh said in her acceptance speech. “This is proof that dreams do come true. And ladies, don’t let anybody tell you that you are ever past your prime. Never give up.”
