How To Make Great Biscuits With A Can Of 7-Up

Despite how quickly they come together, biscuits can be tricky to make. If you're trying to make proper Southern biscuits, there are a lot of dos and don'ts  to keep in mind for a perfectly baked result. It's enough to make you want to give up on buttery biscuits altogether. Or, you could just do away with tradition, buy yourself a can of 7-Up, a box of Bisquick, some sour cream and whip up some pretty damn good biscuits in no time. Seriously, so easy.

We know the mere mention of these biscuits is enough to make a whole town of Southern grandmothers roll over in their graves. But folks, they're good. They're easy. And they're biscuits. Also, this recipe has been around for a while -- its origins are unknown -- but it's a keeper for those days when you just need a quick, good biscuit.

How does it work? Well, the Bisquik has leavener in it -- so that's how your biscuits rise. The 7-Up takes the place of buttermilk -- its carbonation acts as like the acid in buttermilk, helping to keep the biscuits tender. That's the sheer magic of it.
