Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) said his statewide ban is "fighting back" against a plan "to force the world to eat meat grown in a petri dish or bugs."
Officials are advising people to throw away any products they may have after high levels were detected in the spice sold at stores like the Dollar Tree and Family Dollar.
Eating the contaminated products could result in acute toxicity, FDA officials said.
The resolution praising Dr. Robert Karas came as he faces a lawsuit from inmates who say they were unknowingly prescribed the drug for COVID-19.
