The decision to interview Weiss in private reflects the challenges Republicans face in arguing that the Justice Department has shown favoritism to the presidents son.
The Florida congressman reportedly apologized to the victim's family after letting the man accused of killing their son lead the Pledge of Allegiance.
Additionally, the Justice Department warned that it probably wouldnt share any non-public information.
They will hold a hearing on Dec. 8 investigating the lobbying campaign that led to allegations that Justice Samuel Alito leaked the outcome of a 2014 decision.
"Did I strike a nerve?" the Florida Democrat, who's a former police officer, shouted at her Republican colleague.
Were asking for people to understand the pain, the violence, the brutality, the chattel-ness of what we went through," Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee said.
