WHAT'S HAPPENING
Obama presented Poitier, whose death was reported Friday, with the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2009.
The trailblazer won an Academy Award for his work in 1964.
Officials said the Sidney Poitier New American Film School "will measure success not by exclusivity but by inclusivity."
"I smile every day, and I definitely didn't smile every day before," said Chris Rock.
