Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) and at least 13 other Democratic senators wrote a letter to the Biden transition team recommending their former colleague.
The former acting attorney general said the president has spent his term using "his position to defend himself, rather than our country."
Democrats say they were blindsided by news of the interview requests.
"We cant control whether our public servants lie to us. But we can control whether we hold them accountable," she wrote in a USA Today op-ed.
