Former Richneck Elementary School assistant principal Ebony Parker is accused of ignoring multiple reports that a 6-year-old had a gun.
Deja Taylor, whose son critically wounded his teacher, was also separately sentenced last month to 21 months in prison for marijuana use while owning a gun.
Deja Taylor, 26, still faces a separate sentencing in December on the state levelfor felony child neglect.
An attorney for Abby Zwerner, who sued the school district for $40 million, said she didn't resign but was fired.
WHAT'S HAPPENING
Deja Taylor faces two charges, including a count of felony child neglect.
"Its changed me. Its changed my life," first grade teacher Abigail Zwerner told the "Today" show.
Richneck Elementary School in Newport News reopened Monday with stepped-up security and a new administrator.
The school's district superintendent was ousted from his post after the revelations about the warnings came to light.
We will regret our absence on this day for the rest of our lives, the parents said in a statement.
