Christopher Schurr, who shot Lyoya during a traffic stop in Michigan earlier this year, has been charged with second-degree murder.
Christian Glass was shot after calling 911 for roadside assistance while experiencing what his mother described as a mental health crisis.
The Vallejo, California, police officer was fired last week following an investigation into the June 2020 shooting.
The officer, who had been with the San Antonio Police Department for seven months, was fired following the incident.

The deputy involved in the shooting will be on paid leave until an investigation is completed.

The officers pumped bullets into the car the Black teenager was driving and then handcuffed him after he was mortally wounded.
