Do census workers still go door to door? And what happens if you aren't counted?
It's the first once-a-decade census in which most people are being encouraged to answer questions via the internet.
The chief justice initially leaned toward siding with the Trump administration, but changed his mind, CNN reported.
Some states haven't dedicated any money to preparing for the 2020 census, which determines representation in Congress and federal funding allocations.
WHAT'S HAPPENING
John Gore faces accusations of lying about why a citizenship question was added to the census. A person familiar said his departure was unrelated.
The ACLU, as well as state and local governments that fought the census question, has asked a judge to punish Trump officials for "a fraud on the court."
President Donald Trump announced that his administration will be dropping their effort to add a citizenship question to the 2020 census, and will instead be instructing other executive agencies to provide all of their citizenship records to the Department of Commerce.
Trump said last week that he was very seriously considering executive action to try to force the questions inclusion.
The administration is pressing ahead with its bid for a citizenship question on the census, despite a Supreme Court defeat.
The group of attorneys who usually defend the government in court is off the case as Trump pushes his attempt to ask about citizenship.
