Bill Murray: 'Ghostbusters 3' Script Still Unread

No one's ever going to believe you. And if you're the "Ghostbusters 3" script, Bill Murray may never read you.

While director Ivan Reitman is all gung ho about a third movie in the classic comedy series, having written the script and plotted a whole future for the franchise, his biggest star isn't too hot on the whole idea.

Murray, speaking with Howard Stern, gave some rare comments about the proposed film, which hinges on his participation. He admits that Reitman has sent him over the script , but that's about as far as it's gotten.

"Yeah, Ivan wants to make it and I... I owe him, ya know," Murray confessed (via ScreenRant ). "He's puzzled that I haven't gotten to this one... Well, it may not be on the desk - it's over there somewhere.

"Well, I'll get to it... I gotta get to it - I feel bad," he said. "I got a message and I think people - I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings - it's not the foremost thing in my mind, so I don't think about it. You know, the studio gets excited every 10 years or so."

He doesn't quite share the enthusiasm -- turns out, he wasn't all for doing the second film in the series.

"I only made one sequel and it was 'Ghostbusters 2' and it didn't end up the way it was presented," Murray said.

Reitman has revealed that a new script would introduce new, younger members to the Ghostbuster team. Members like Ashton Kutcher . Murray says that's happened before.

"You know, the studio gets excited every 10 years or so. What they'd really like to do is recreate the franchise. I remember when the new Ghostbusters was going to be Chris Rock, Chris Farley and Chris Crane... Kris Kringle... someone [laughs] - that had it together."

And that would have been very, very interesting.
